Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a course designed by the Driving Standards Agency specifically aimed at newly qualified drivers. One in five drivers are involved in an accident within a year of passing their test. Pass Plus is designed to extend and build on your driving skills and awareness and can be taken at anytime after passing the test but is most beneficial within one year, particularly if you are looking for insurance discounts.
The Pass Plus course consists of 6 modules some of which you may or may not have done leading upto your L test. These are;-
- driving in town
- driving in all weathers
- driving on rural roads
- driving at night
- driving on dual carriageways
- driving on motorways
On all of these you will use independant driving, planning and finding the routes yourself. The training sessions will take a minimum of 6 hours, mostly practical, in car training and you will be assesed as you go along.There's no examination to pass at the end of the course and progress will be recorded, signed and dated. On completion you'll receive a certificate of your acheivement from the DSA. You may also be entitled to a discount on your car insurance.
After the Pass Plus you could even consider working towards the DIAmond advanced driving test, taking your driving skills to a higher level and reaping futher financial benefits (Eco-driving) and less stressful journeys.
